Bortoletti glass stamp and wax seal set – Casanova
The Bortoletti Casanova glass stamp and wax seal set is a striking example of Venetian craftsmanship, handmade in Italy using authentic Murano glass and enriched with delicate 24ct gold leaf. Elegant, decorative, and full of character, this premium wax sealing accessory is designed for customers who appreciate fine desk accessories, traditional craftsmanship, and beautifully finished correspondence.
Handcrafted Murano glass with 24ct gold leaf
Each Casanova seal is made exclusively in the Bortoletti workshop using traditional lampworking techniques associated with Venetian glassmaking. The handle is formed from authentic Murano glass and enhanced with fine 24-carat gold leaf suspended beneath clear crystal, creating a luminous effect that catches the light beautifully. This gives the piece a rich, jewellery-like appearance that feels both artistic and distinctive.
Compatible with interchangeable wax seal stamps
The Casanova handle is designed for use with interchangeable 22 mm Bortoletti wax seal stamps. It can be paired with English cursive initials, Gothic lettering, block capitals, double initials, or a wide selection of decorative symbols. This makes it a versatile choice for customers who want to personalise their sealing tools for weddings, monogrammed stationery, gift wrapping, and special correspondence.
A refined choice for luxury stationery
With its radiant glass finish and gold detailing, the Casanova is especially suited to luxury wedding invitations, elegant letters, keepsake documents, presentation packaging, and collectors of Venetian glass. It turns an ordinary wax seal into a more decorative finishing touch, helping envelopes and packages feel memorable and thoughtfully presented.
How to use
Fit the handle with your chosen compatible Bortoletti wax seal stamp, then melt your sealing wax using an alcohol lamp, spirit burner, or carefully with a kitchen lighter. A good quality sealing wax should melt smoothly, flow evenly, and remain workable long enough to capture the engraved design clearly. Allow approximately 20 seconds before lifting the seal for the best impression.
Product dimensions and compatibility
This glass seal is designed to work with 22 mm interchangeable Bortoletti wax seal stamps, the standard size used across most of the Bortoletti sealing range. This makes it easy to change between initials, monograms, and symbol stamps while keeping the same decorative Venetian handle.
Enhance your wax seal impressions
For an even more decorative finish, the raised details of your wax seal can be highlighted using Bortoletti wax cream, available in pots of gold or silver. This is a simple way to bring out initials, symbols, and engraved details, adding extra contrast and a more luxurious finish to your completed seal.

Hi Trina,
Thank you for asking. Bortoletti recommends using 90% pure alcohol or denatured alcohol (Methylated spirits) for a stable, odourless flame that does not burn or discolour the wax.
The two best, least expensive fuels for the alcohol lamps are denatured ethanol (ethyl alcohol; grain alcohol), and methanol (methyl alcohol; wood alcohol; methylated spirit); both can be cheaply obtained at hardware stores or home-improvement centers.
What is the alternative to denatured alcohol for alcohol lamp?
Try using >99% isopropyl alcohol. It's the closest in structure and physical properties. Denatured alcohol is mostly ethanol with methanol mixed in so it can be sold for non-food use.
Please note that Calligraphy Arts does not sell this as it requires specialist posting, but it is freely available at many hardware and cosmetic accessory stores.
I hope that helps,
Jane
Hello Irene,
Thanks for asking. To seal a lid on a jar, you need to heat the end of the sealing wax with something like a kitchen lighter and carefully drip the melted wax over the area you want to seal. Then, while the wax is still warm, you can press your stamp.
