Bortoletti replacement Murano glass nibs for writing and drawing

Bortoletti replacement Murano glass nibs are a practical and beautifully made way to refresh your favourite writing instrument. Whether you need to replace a damaged nib or simply want to change the colour of your pen, these handcrafted Murano glass nibs offer an elegant solution that preserves the distinctive character of Bortoletti’s Venetian-inspired writing tools.

Each nib is made to fit all Bortoletti glass dip pens and can also be used with Bortoletti steel nib pen holders once the ferrule has been removed. This makes them a versatile option for customers who enjoy adapting their pen for a different writing experience or adding a more decorative finish to their desk collection.

Handmade Murano glass nibs in 10 colours

These replacement nibs are available in 10 different colours, allowing you to personalise your pen or match it with other writing accessories. Each nib is made by hand in the traditional Murano style, giving every piece an individual character and a refined, artisan finish.

Designed for smooth ink flow

The twisted grooves of the nib are formed using a metal mould, creating the characteristic channels that hold a generous amount of calligraphy ink and allow it to glide smoothly across the page. This makes the nib especially well suited to single-line cursive writing, decorative handwriting, sketching, and expressive drawing.

Compatible with Bortoletti dip pens and selected pen holders

These Murano glass nibs are specially designed to be easily replaced in all Bortoletti glass pens. They can also be fitted to Bortoletti steel nib pen holders by removing the ferrule from the holder and inserting the glass nib in its place. This gives your pen a fresh new appearance and an original writing style without needing to replace the full pen.

Suitable for a wide range of inks and users

Bortoletti glass nibs are suitable for use with most calligraphy inks and are also a practical choice for left-handed writers. After use, the nib can be cleaned easily with water, making it convenient for switching between ink colours or maintaining the nib after longer writing sessions.

Ideal for decorative scripts and creative work

These glass nibs are particularly suited to cursive and italic-style writing, as well as drawing and decorative ink work. Italic, single line italic, and American italic are all examples of styles that work beautifully with this type of nib. The writing line is fluid and expressive, making it a popular choice for both everyday creative use and more formal lettering.

A writing tradition linked to Venice and Murano

Glass nibs have a long heritage in Venetian craftsmanship, with examples dating back to the 18th century. On the island of Murano, master glassmakers created decorative and practical writing tools that became admired far beyond Italy. Bortoletti continues this tradition today, producing glass nibs with the same attention to form, function, and artistic detail.

Bortoletti Italian craftsmanship

Bortoletti is known for creating distinctive writing instruments and desk accessories inspired by Italian artistry, Venice, and Murano glassmaking traditions. These replacement nibs reflect that heritage, combining decorative appeal with practical everyday use. The result is a small but important component that brings authenticity, craftsmanship, and character to your writing experience.

Much better than the cheap ones I have, they \'re scratchy this one is silky. Like Hagen Daaz clotted cream and praline icecream. I nearly said \'it\'s better,\' but it\'s not. one is a nib the other is a litre of heaven in a pot.

A gift for my wife. She had never tried a glass nib and thought it would be very troublesome, but she actually found it to be very easy to use, and a breeze to change the ink color.

Brilliant set of nibs well wrapped to keep them safe arrived promptly. Only down side the ink doesn't seem to run all the way up all the grooves.
